Mason - I'll just kind of bullet-point some things. I'm somewhat biased,
since I've owned a number of '88 90q's (still have one), but....(BTW, this
comparison applies to US-spec cars only):
- Most agree the suspension is 'softer', not as 'responsive' or
'fun-to-drive'. I agree to some extent; and it is heavier. But upgrading
the stock suspension is an easy fix..
- Electrics (various switches, etc.) are a newer design and more reliable.
- 130hp NG engine vs. 110hp in 4k (except '87 1/2 which had NG)
- Don't worry, just like the 4k, there's no 'bomb'....nice, simple vacuum
assist for brakes
- Headlights suck even worse than stock 4k
- Center diff is Torsen, so you can only lock rear diff (good or bad
depending on who you talk to)
- BBS lace-wheels (14x6) standard on all but very early '88's
- Looks better, in my opinion.
- Procon Ten seatbelt tightening feature (I like this better than airbags)
- More options available (ABS, electric/memory seats, headlight washers, etc.)
- Costs more to buy than 4k, however
- Upscale interior (wood, leather, better materials, etc.)

Well, that's what I can think of in 5 minutes...e-mail if you want more
