I remember drooling over this car when I read the first reviews in Road &
Track. It was the first new Benz I actually wanted (and couldn't come
close to affording at the time, being not long out of High School). The
only Benz I ever wanted before then was the old Gullwing. At the time I
was partial to the BMW 635CSI, and the "rare" short wheelbase coupe Q's I
saw attacking Pike's Peak. I still have the R&T stats for the Benz. Base
price was $18k new. Just gotta love inflation..
