Audi and Bentley manuals

DJ> Audi and VW also have a CD ROM version of these manuals including the

Kind of like what Mitsubishi does. When I was exporting
parts, the most time consuming PITA was getting quotes
for Dealer Only Parts. I became friends with the
local ihsibustiM counter man, and he let me borrow
the CD rom, I had it duplicated by a friend who
had a CDrom duplicating machine. (NOT a cheap PC type,
but a $10K unit at the time.) They had/have a similar
core charge, and even fine the dealer if there isn't
a large scratch through the CD when they returned it.

Audi will probably do a similar thing, I'm willing to
bet that they'll have some encryption scheme similar
to what Alldate does with it's Professional versions.
(These used to cost something like U$5k a year.) If
they do, the CD's will pretty much be useless unless
someone comes up with a crack or a physical decryption
     card for the PC.

If not, anyone who needs a manual to work on newer
Audi's will just have to bend over and say AUUUUDIII
just like we do for everthing else we're forced to
buy from our friendly authorized Audi dealer.
