Electric windows

Listers,
Recently the drivers window failed.  The motor runs fine but before the
Gods struck there was a loud pop, (glass not broken), the up direction
actually put the window down, and now it is stuck all the way down.  Does
ayone have any experience getting into the door to look around.  I have had
the inner door off except for the interior door latch that I didn't want to
mess with at the time for fear of not being able to reattach.  Any tips on
the above would be greatly appreciated.  By the way, its a 93 V8.
