Roof Racks for 90 200QW

Anyone out there with any experience in attaching roof rack systems to
the stock Audi roof rails on the 89-91 200 Wagons? I have been trying
to find a system which will allow a direct connection rather than some
kind of attachment to the upper door frames. The dealers I have
contacted have given mixed signals. One said, no way, another said
that if it fits the 84-88 5k wagon rails, it should fit mine too.
I have seen the ones available in an Audi catalog, but would rather
use something else.
