Re: Ur-Q's for Sale
There's also a diamond silver 1983 ur-q (not mine!) up for sale here
in Toronto at Agincourt Autohaus. The car has ~134,000kms and was
owned for the majority of these miles by an Audi mechanic at Autohaus.
I can vouch for this mechanic (Rick) and his knowledge of ur-qs. He
installed a later 5kt motor avec knock sensor and ECU. The body work
is sound (original paint), so is the interior, he added the center
console from a later car with the newer style diff switch (rotary).
The car also has manually adjustable boost:)
That's the good news. The bad news is the car was owned for the last
couple of years by a doctor who used it strictly as a "pleasure car".
So while the car continued to be maintained by Rick, the owner only
performed minimal maintenance, replacing the intercooler to throttle
body hose was a common one (lotsa boost!). As a consequence the engine
bay is quite rough and would need some $$$($) spent to tidy it up.
They're selling the car as is, with certification, they know the A/C
needs a new condensor. I spoke very briefly to Rick about the car (he
ceritified it) and said it was running well. The car will be
advertized in this Thursdays Autotrader. I would want to look very
carefully at the engine bay and underside of the car before making an
offer.
Agincourt are asking $14,800 (CDN) for the car but I'm sure they would
accept around $11-12K. I'm very sad to say that it's not the type of
car they like to have on their lot, preferring to sell low mileage
"modern" quattros. The used car salesmen I spoke to almost sounded as
if selling it was a chore....
It will be very interesting to see what happens to the used car market
for ur-qs in North America over the next 5-10 years. I don't see their
resale value increasing but I do see the number of cars decreasing
very rapidly. Thanks Audi for your wonderful spare parts pricing and
availability, Paul R. where do I find one of them 5.0l volvos?

'85 ur-q that may be up for sale....
