weird electical problems

I have a few odd electical problems on my '88 90. one, the passenger side 
turn signal/side marker light will not light as a marker, but it will 
flash for the turn signal. the drivers side is fine, Two, the high beams 
work if I hold the switch back towards me, but the head lights will not 
shine if I push it forward. I was told that it was a bad switch, but I 
have very little electrical experience.

Any help would be apreciated.
