Clutch chatter
I've had a rather disconcerting development since I had a new clutch
installed in my '85 Coupe GT this summer.
The problem is most pronounced early in the morning when everything is
very cold. (I think this is the part that bothers me the most!) After
I've been driving for 10 minutes or so the symptoms seem to disappear.
What happens is the clutch chatters (shudders?) when I'm trying to start
from a dead stop. If I'm short shifting to keep the revs down while the
engine is cold, I can usually get it to chatter again on the 1-2 shift.
The effect is even more pronounced if there is any sort of an incline
involved.
I have a feeling that the mechanic didn't flush/bleed the clutch system
when the clutch was installed. Could this be causing the symptoms, or
is it something worse such as the master or slave cylinders?
TIA!
