I would keep it. BTW, I have the same problem on my car. I will probably fix it
by patching the holes with aluminum sheet metal pieces using aluminum pop
rivets, and making new holes for the mounting screws. I would also put
insulation (electrical) under those steel mounting nuts, as it seems to me,
that I had galvanic corrosion from the dissimilar metals (steel nut, aluminum
shield, and lots of salt during the winters).
