To answer a few private-post questions I got:
The impact was at ~65 MPH. The bird had just taken off, and so had no
speed of its own.
It was 40 mil (0.040", 1 mm) film.
It came from Griot's Garage (800)345-5789.
10x16" 40 mil is $23
20x16" 40 mil is $40 (four 4000-sized lenses)
10x16" 20 mil is $17 (for fog lights)
Cut to size with scissors, apply to well-cleaned lens, trim the edges
with a razor.
The adhesive _was_ very strong, keeping all the pieces together like a
busted windshield. Make sure you get it on straight . . . cuz you won't
get another chance.
