Does 5-cyl WC engine run Unleaded fuel?

Hi,

With the news that Leaded fuel will no longer be sold in the UK after 1999,
It brings me to the question of will my Audi 100 run unleaded without any
ill effects (like excessive head wear etc).  The Haynes manual just states
to use fuel with 98 RON or higher.  So presumably this would be Super
Unleaded.  In which case it would be cheaper to stick to good old 4-star
leaded.

My engine type is WC, and has the K-Jetronic mechanical fuel injection.
