Check the coolant temperature sender connection which provides an input into the 
fuel/timing computer.  It is located close to number 1 spark plug and below the 
hydraulic pump mounting bracket.  The connector slides on to the sensor.

It took me a long time to find the problem but this contact was not clean and I had 
similar symptoms.
