Replacing the spoiler on my 82 coupe with the later model (attaches at end
only, outside "boot" seal) eliminated one source of water in my car. After
I Bondo'd the holes from the old rusty spoiler bolts, that is. Now, in the
5 inches of rain we had last weekend, I still have water.
The "boot" seal is not a suspect - it is dry all the way around.

My next step (groan) will be the lamp seals. I don't think these are
actually a part #, not on my fiche, think they are just a bunch of black
goop. I have some 3M clay like material for sealing gaps etc, actually used
to stick my Audi logo on the center of the trunk a month ago. I might try
that.

Anyone know what the stuff really is?

After that comes (groan again) the eight little (5mm) bolts that hold the
"coupe" reflector on the back of the lid. I bet they're rusty, and then
there's the seals around the dummy fog lights.

Yikes!

PS it also helps to keep the waterline below the floor pan...
