REdline Gearbox Oils -- Urq Application
I am using Redline MT-90 in the manual transmission of my '86 5KCSTQ. From
the back of the can,
"MT-90 is recommended for all manual transmissions and front-wheel-drive
manual transaxles which recommend motor oils, or GL-1, GL-3, or GL-4 gear
oils...MT-90 meets gear oil viscosities SAE 75W, 80W and 90, or motor oil
viscosities SAE 40 and 10w40, and provides gear protection which satisfies
API categories GL-1, GL-3 and GL-4. This product is not designed for use in
a rear-wheel-drive differential (equivalent to the rear diff on our Q's)
which requires a GL-5 lubricant."
The MT-90 is a slightly higher-viscosity version of MTL. You can get more
information from Redline directly at:

I've had MTL (didn't know MT-90 was available) in my '68 Corvette's 4-speed
transmission for 10,000 miles. The transmission has never been rebuilt and
has survived very well under 400+ horsepower and the heaviness of the car
itself.
