You can frequently pick up a reflection from a little bugger's eyeball as
he contemplates his dash across the road. Keep your peripheral vision
on the lookout for a twinkle of light in the weeds along the roadside.
Probably just a beer can, but then again could be skunk innards plastered
to the undercarriage. In any case, the process of actively watching will
improve your odds that you will see something.
One other point: varmints often move in pairs. If the first one makes
it across, stay on the brakes until you're sure there's not a number two.
Fox (Audi content) are especially prone to test you on this.
