V8 rebuild?
Someone on the list mentioned about a V8 quattro on sale that had the engine
rebuilt.
Is not the Audi V8 a full aluminum engine, i.e. no cast iron or steel liners?
Such engines have chromium plated or Nicasil coated cylinder bores (probably
there are some other surface treatment methods). None of them are processes
that your average machine shop would perform. Such engines need new cylinders
or the blocks sent back for reprocessing. So how does the Audi (or the Porsche
V8, for that matter) do it?
Thanks, Peter
