89 200q Bum Alternator [2]

Hey Folks, 
       Thanks to Dave Head and Bob Myers for responding so quickly to my
post. The two hypothesis for the weak voltage condition for my Q didn't
hold up. The belt was bone dry (and tight) and according to one of the shop
mechanics, "why would the car start if it had a bad battery after sitting
for four days?" 

         So, for $100 I'm getting a used alternator pulled from a wreaked
low mileage Q, coming from VW-Parts.  Of course, now that I've replaced the
pump and alternator unexpectedly.. I might have to wait a bit longer for
the Hak 1s. 

Thanks again guys for helping me confirm the diagnosis. It was good to hear
from you guys again. :)
