As I recall, they wanted to stay with 15" rims because of the better ride they
provide.  Recall that these were on the V8 and 200q; sporty sedans, yet
leaning more towards luxury in their target market.  The 16's are better for
handling, yet a bit more harsh, with less sidewall to absorb bumps.  Plus, 15"
tires are cheaper towards their bottom line... although with designing a new
brake system that dosn't go far...
