Re: Gasolines
FWIW: I've had great luck with Shell premium (93), however when I use Sunoco
Ultra (94) I get the OXS light when the engine is at idle after a period of
extended running. The light goes out soon after the engine goes above idle.
Usually only happens in warm wx (>80F).
I have run the Sunoco Ultra at Watkins Glen Q-Club events and not had the
problem - the only difference I can think of is that when I have the Sunoco
problem it's with gas purchased in SW Ohio (Cincinnati area) vs the Watkins
Glen NY area. Different additives maybe?
Even when the OXS light is on, the car runs fine and no fault codes were
"deposited" for the mech's to trace.
I've heard reports that this also happens with BP, but I've not experienced
the problem. I have used Marathon premium (92) with no noticable drop off in
perfomance.
This has been a problem with my '92 S4 in SW Ohio. I have used BP quite
successfully with the prior '89 200TQ. I have also not experienced any
problems with NA I5's (86, 87, 91).
