Re: engine dies on hot day
Gday Audi Community!
I just came back from Audi dealer workshop. They were having a look at my
problem, the car.
One of the mechanic took it for a drive, so I went with him.
As we drove around, I described the symptoms to him.
Extract of the dialog:
...
Me: "The engine cuts out on a hot day, when I wait for 10-15 minutes it
starts OK."
Mechanic: "The fuel pump".
Me: "I replaced that"
Mechanic: "..might be a fuel pump relay".
Me: " I replaced that too, and when it happended last time, I evenswapped
the relay strait away, and I still could not start the car"
Mechanic: "MMMhhhh"
Me: "I think it might be something with fuel pressure"
Mechanic: "Lets see"
He reved up the engine to over 5000RPM and I started sweating (it was a
hot day) , I never rev it beyond 4000RPM.
Mechanic: "Definitely no problem with fuel pressure, since it revs up
nicely"
Mechanic: "The cars needs to reved up sometimes, it cleanes the system
out"
Mechanic: "It must be electrical, problem of some sort, check ignition
switch and related cabling"
....
Guess what I will be doing this weekend.
