Congrats, good deal! Time to chip her up ;)

Hmm, I am not sure about that. I had an '89 Colt (my wife's starter car)
and a number of Ladas, the last one being the 'best' one, the 2107.

I have just tuned up my old Colt as a gesture of good will (three years
ago I made a mistake of selling it to my female cousin after her rather
insistive requests. Somehow people seem to like buying my cars).

I have never seen a car before that managed to still run on Cu plugs with
the gaps more than 2mm wide, with black carbonised skirts, ceramic
cracked, the top electrodes worn to a needle point and the bottom
electrodes that looked like a tiny black round dimple, barely visible
above the insulator.
I don't even want to describe the distributor condition and the colour of
oil.
And that thing ran nonetheless.

My Audis would've quit, my bullet-proof VW Fox would've quit and I am not
even talking about my Ladas, which required valves readjusted; points
cleaned, regaped and retimed; plugs, cap and rotor cleaned and the carb
disassembled and soaked in Acetone for cleaning every 10000km (6000mi).
Aaah, and the camshaft had to be replaced after 34000km, coz it was
rounded off. And the U- and Ball Joints lasted for about 25000km. And the
engine needed new rings at 100000km (60000mi).

That little 1.5L Colt still started and ran, albeit a bit on a rough
side.
A good reliable little car, typically Japanese.

Good luck with that Tornado Red 5kcs Turbo, Eugene.
