Audi has used these configurations since the late 70s:

	1. 4x100mm
	2. 4x108mm
	3. 5x112mm

1. is used on Audi Fox, early 80s 4000 and Coupes.
2. is used on later 4000, 4000 quattro and Coupes, the late 80s
   80/90, and 80s 5000, 100.
3. is used on all Urquattro, 5000T and 5000TQ, V8, 92-up 100,
   93-up 90, A4, A6, A8.

Only 1. is interchangeable with VW Rabbit/Golf/Jetta/Scirocco/Fox/Quantum
and Passat (pre-98) with 4-bolt wheels. I am not sure, but I think the
VW VR6 cars are 5x100mm.

Don't quote the above list as gospel. I am known to make mistakes :-)

So, to answer your question:

No.

> would todays Avus rims(5 lug) fit on an older 5000TQ or UrQ with 5 lugs?

Mostly yes.

> I know offset etc comes into play here,

Indeed. Over the years many different wheel widths and offsets were used
on various models, so some combinations of interchangeability is there,
but with caveats.
