Re: Pikes Peak 98'!!!!!

Hi Ben, other Qheads,

> do you want to do it at Pikes Peak again?

Yow!!! Definitely!!!

> No matter where it is, are you going to be there?

I never know this far in advance, but if at all possible for me, I'll be there!

> Any other suggestions as to where it should be?

I second Brother Bruce Bell's comments about Steamboat, but the Peake is my
first choice.

> Any other comments?

Yes. The experience is *greatly* enhanced if we all stay at one location.
We all underestimated the importance of that last time, but it was a
learning experience. The socializing before and after the race was the
high-point, the raison d'etre of the trip to this avuncular qhead! The
place we choose should have the following characteristics, in roughly the
following order:

Plenty of parking,
<ditto> inexpensive rooms
Open mind to a large group of qheads drunking beer and (loudly) chatting
Swimming pool
proximity to a choice of restaurants

The motel I stayed at (I'll have to look it up if anyone's interested) had
a pool and plenty of parking, plus walking distance to a bar and a
restaurant, and I suspect met the other criteria. I was the only person
staying there, though.

To get a large block (say, 20) of rooms *anyplace*, we'd need to reserve
*early*.

By the way, just my observation, but that funky/kitschy little village just
beyond the museum at the foot of the mountain, looked like a great place to
stay next time, if we could get a large block of rooms somewhere there.
I'd give up a pool to find a place there!

I'd vote for the Peake anyway, but this makes it *special* in my book. And
refer to my comments about socializing. I think that the "Special" parking
was a *very* important, if not the *most* part of the success of the
gathering!

What I said. Oh yeah, thanks again for last year, and not to mention, for
asking again for next year!!!

BTW, Ben, what's the story on the V8 URQ...?
