long distance repair

   Dan,
Can't shed any light on proprietor, but almost any Audi wrench will
tell you the coil is usually as bullet proof as the block. Admittedly
it is tough to argue with coil schrapnel! What they won't always tell
you is that virtually any old $20 'merican points style coil will work
fine. You prolly missed the $25 MSD high energy coil on the UrQ. $65
seems more like the, "gee your stranded and need an Audi coil" price
than the on the phone "do you have any used coils kicking around" price,
if it was new, that's different.
The rough running could be ignition, how are cap, wires rotor? Did
the new owner mess with them at all? I5's will start and run on 4 cyls
or out of regular firing order, BTDT ;-)!
4 extremely cold running, check A) the thermostat is there, B) that
it works, C) that coolant is no more than 50/50. If evrything checks
run with cardboard in front of rad for these northerN NE temps.
Waitsfield gets damn cold, had a oil filter back out on the UrQ there
last winter, nothing quite like an oil change in sub zero temps before
the windchill.
Mike
