AUDI TURBO FUEL STARVATION
Hi Guys,
Thanks for your inputs and help over the last few days, I have been
working like crazy to get things toghether so that I can get this car
sorted out.
ACTIONS
ECU SYSTEM
ECU system will be pulled out tomorrow, and the EPROM fitted onto a IC socket.
The info will be sent to Scott M. asap. I have bought replacement 27C64 Eproms
150nS which should do the job?I would love to try the 1.95 boost without bypassing the Pierburg
valve to see what that does.
OCCASIONAL SMOKE
It seems that the turbo has been leaking oil through the seals,
accumulating it in the intake air lines and occasionally
dumping it into the intake, causing the smoke.
We are planning to fit a replacement turbocharger tomorrow.
FUEL STARVATION
This is the one thing that has really been worrying me. The car was
running perfectly on the old fuel pump, boosting around 2 bar, and
going like a rocket. It has been like this ever since the
modification to the turbo/ valve system has been done. (Almost 2
years).
The fuel pump started working intermittently, and cut fuel completely
at times. In between the car was going well (Boost etc.) When the original fuel pump stopped working,
we found a lot of dirt and rubbish in the tank, which apparantly caused the pump failure. The fuel
filter was full of mud, sand and water. The cause of this was a
filling station attendants not taking enough care when,
subsequently getting mud and water in their tanks. (Those things
happen around here)
We replaced the fuel filter and fitted a brand new pump, and ever
since then the car just did not go well under high torque. The agents have
replaced the pump again and there is about a 20% improvement in the
situation. I am going to strip and clean the whole fuel line, and
redo and check all the switches in the system. We are also thinking
of reconditioning the old pump.
THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP AND SUGGESTIONS SO FAR, AS THE ISSUES GET
RESOLVED I WILL PUBLISH THE ANSWERS FOR ALL TO SEE.
Regards,
Renier Meyer.200T.
