Exactly. As is the case (but MUCH worse) on the C180 MB I drove recently.

I don't like the Schwarzeneggeresque effort needed to shift my car (sans
power steering, which was an expensive extra at the time) at low speeds,
but it's got great feel once you're on the move. I still haven't found a
PS-equipped car that can compete with it.
