Re: Brake bleed screw/UFO calipers.

Joe-

Long time, no talk.

You broke off the front bleeder screw, now does that mean that you broke it
and now you have a hole down the middle of screw that is releasing brake
fluid to the atomosphere? If it is, your in good hands to use an easy-out.
That's about the only time I have ever had them work. Your big advantage is
the pre-drilled hole in the bleeder screw.

Go down to the local hardware store (are you still fighting the cold war
overseas?) and buy an easy out which would be very small. It has left
handed threads, so once it bites into the screw and overcomes the torque of
the frozen screw, it turns it, at least in theory. Haven't had it work many
times except when there is a nice hole drilled down the middle. Shouldn't
make much in the way of shavings, but if it does, I'm sure the'll come out
when you bleed the brakes.

If you disconnect the caliper from the hose and did it in a vice on a
workbench you probability of sucsess would most likely be higher.

I did have a lead on some UFO components, but deleted the email. It was
from Steve in San Jose, CA, I think he owns a UrQ. He knew of someone local
(a shop) that had UFO components for sale. Might want to querry the list,
he is a regular poster.

Good luck.
