5kcstq turbo water fitting tool question
In attempting to replace some seeping items in my cooling system I tried to
get the lower turbo coolant hose off (the one between the block and the bottom
of the turbo) and found that no wrench I owned would get on there...looks like
a job for a "Crowfoot" socket. My questions are: is that really the magic
answer? What size is it? (16 or 17mm?) If I get that crowfoot, what other
common Audi sizes should I buy, or should I get a whole set? Any advice from
BTDT's would be much appreceated...I plan to delve back in this coming
weekend.
As an aside...if you own a turbo Audi from the late 80's and have not yet
replaced the two short cloth covered hoses on the turbo coolant lines...DO IT
NOW!!!! There is a crimp on one side which is easily removable with a hacksaw,
use a hose clamp when installing the new (3/8" ID worked for me) hose. I could
not believe how rotten that hose was when I removed it.
