No problem in this regard even on stock tires.  The so-called
electronic differential lock works - it brakes spinning tires.
I had no trouble with my A4 in the snow last year.  Now as for the
'86 5k, that was terrible on the Dunlop D60s, very easy to lose the rear.

Now as for stopping, just stay out of the ABS - ie be gentle with
the brakes (see previous threads on ABS and snow/ice).
