No, you remove the left wheel and turn the steering wheel to the left.

The rack comes out through the left wheel arch.  I'm just calling the
repairers to ask why they specified engine removal, and then I'm gonna
call Len Hunt, a local VP of Audi who bent my ear about "residual
values being Audi's strongest selling point."
