I think the quattro-logo'ed seats are moderately rare, and were only
available in the '87 model year. I do not know if it was an explicit
option, but it certainly was not standard on all 4000qs in 1987.
And the easiest way to check the engine code of the NG vs. JT engine is,
well, to check the engine code. (DOH!!) ;)
The easiest way to tell the JT/KX engine from the NG engine is to look
at the intake manifold. The 2.22L engines use a one-piece manifold
with no markings, while the 2.3L NG uses a two-piece that has 'Audi' on
the top.
