broken A/C flap?

Last Friday while driving in 56 degree weather (hey, that's cold for L.A.) my
auto climate control (90q20v) produced nothing but cold air.  As I fiddled
with the controls I could hear a clicking coming from behind the center dash
vents.  Later that evening the heat returned. Its been two days and now I get
no air whatsoever from the center dash vents.  I do get warm air down low.
Has anyone BTDT?  Got any tips on getting behind the vents?  I'm a little
cautious 'cause the 90 seems a little tougher to disassemble than my Coupe.
Any tips appreciated.
