driving lights
I got some of these laid on me and want to mount them on the top of the
bumper in front of the grill. I don't have the fog lamp relay on my 87
5k but certainly there is a socket for it. On looking at the wiring
diags. in the Haynes there is no info on this relay, just the head
lights. I assume the fog lamps had a separate switch on the dash or
perhaps on the combo switch. I could run these off a switch that came
with the hand-me-down which would be easy enough, but I don't like that
idea. On the windshield wiper side of the combo switch I have a detent
forward that doesn't do anything, and I could wire it in there. On the
other hand, both of these lights together draw 110 watts which certainly
isn't something to write home about, but it would sure help the crapola
system in place now as most of you will appreciate. Would it be
possible to just wire them into the high beam switch or would the smoke
escape? I like the idea of the relay so that I could possibly upgrade
to something to make my future brighter (if only it was that simple).
Anyone got an extra fog lamp relay? I'll take it off your hands for a
reasonable amount. Any ideas on this would be greatly appreciated. Oh,
is the focus around two inches below the mounted height of the lamps at
a 25 foot distance the norm in most situations?
