alleged short shift "kit"

I just got done replacing all the soft bits in my shift linkage with
new, and the hard bits with cleaned and painted ones.  Just to make
matters worse, I decided to shorten the knob shaft about 3/4" (tapped
thread down it further) and drill new holes in the connector shaft so
the lower lever arm is longer.  I bent the lower arm a bit so it
wouldn't change the angle it meets the "finger".  Voila, short shift kit
for the amateur.  Wonder if I'll like it?

PS it does go into all 6 gears so far.  We'll see how long that lasts!
