A6/S6 minutae

A while back I posted some questions to the wisdom of the list.  Here's
the
follow-up for those that are interested.  My car is the 1995.5 S6 Avant,
but
I believe that all will apply to the A6 as well.

The PO did not have the key code (it comes on a little key fob) for the
ignition keys.  It's supposedly required to make copies of the keys.
The
PO also did not remember the security code for the Bose stereo.  I
haven't tested this, but supposedly when you disconnect it from the
battery it will prompt for the code upon power-up (if it works like the
other
stereo security schemes I've seen).

The dealer was able to provide both codes during a routine service
interval.

I had a burned out backlight for the odometer/trip odo.  I feared that
this
would be a traumatic experience to get replaced (perhaps requiring that
some portion of the console be pulled and/or replaced).  The dealer
simply
replaced the bulb.
