My '93 factory head-unit was pre-wired for a CD changer. I got a factory
10-disc changer from my friend's wrecked '92, screwed it down, and plugged
it in. The wiring harness is hidden in the passenger-side rear fender just
behind the gas tank filler hose. You get to it by just pulling down the
carpeting inside the trunk. There was a cap on the end of the harness and
it was "hanging" from a clip on the fender. Just pull off the cap, thread
it through the pre-cut hole in the carpeting and plug it in. Once the
changer is installed, you'll need to trim the carpeting to fit around the
base of the changer.
One of the advertisers...I can't remember which...in the Quattro Quarterly
sells the changer and installation kit for something like $495 or $595.
BTW, for everyone else on the list...my friend's totalled '92 S4 was sent
the Fredricksburg, VA auction a few weeks back. Anybody know how I can
find out which yard bought it?
