Thanks for welding advice
Gang,
I want to extend a thanks to all the people who answered my question about
what welding method is best for automotive use. I received quite a bit
of great advice.
For others who may be wondering about it, the general consensus was that
MIG welding is the most useful/flexible for automotive work, since most
automotive jobs are done on thin metal (i.e. body panels, exhaust, etc.).
ARC is useful for larger/beefier jobs where much more strength is needed,
but is too hot for the thin metal jobs. Oxy-acetylene is just too
dangerous for amateurs to use.
And then there was Gary Steinbrueck, with the DIY-automotive-battery-welder
design... ;-)
