S4 big(ger) brake upgrades - suggestions?

Well, the brake upgrade issue seems to have arrived prematurely for my '94 S4, 
as one of the rear calipers is sticking, causing heat, vibration, misery and 
expense (actually, correction, the expense is causing the misery). So... given 
the dealer's attempt to interject humor into the situation by asking $1500 for 
the job, I'm going to be looking in earnest at upgrading the brakes.

I'd like to keep the 16" stock wheels, in light of Michigan's rim-bending 
potholes, but that isn't strictly _necessary_, just desirable. Can any 
(significantly) better brake sets be fitted under the 16s? Either way, what 
would you suggest, and what should it cost? (And yes, Scott, anything that 
brings the braking experience closer to that of a stock e36 M3 would definitely 
be highly desired).
