More trans failure suggestions?
Any more suggestions on my slushbox condition? If I do go and attack the
valve body this weekend (provided that's where the problem is), is the
gasket readily available? Is it common for parts to fail in a valve body?
If so, are individual parts readily available, or do I have to take a junk
one apart? What about linkage leading to the valve body inside the trans.
Any links to come loose or go bad? Can a maladjusted tv cable give me my
symptoms?
Symptoms:
Park: slipping drive, but lock is engaged
Reverse: drive and reverse
Neutral: Drive, but slips under power
D,1,2,3,: Perfect
Not five minutes before, the car was reversing properly. I pulled in to my
driveway, came out a little later, no reverse, just drive. Reverse does
work, so I know the tranny hasn't failed. It's got to be some component. I
might just bite the bullet and take it to a local tranny shop (anyone hear
of Dr Nicks?) and see what the verdict is. If it cuts my cost, I might
just pay 'em for a diagnosis and do the work myself. TIA!
