In certain woodworking circles, the polyurethane finish is considered so
objectionable when used on attractive wood that it is referred to as
"polyurine". The disdain for polyurethane comes from the belief that
generally it overwhelms the texture of the wood and gives a plastic look
and feel. In my opinion as a woodworker, Audi's zebrano is distinctive and
pretty, but much too hidden under the finish. That said, I still prefer it
to alternatives (like carbon fiber?).
