not unless you consider a spare fuse "fancy equipment" ;)
Short out the fuel pump relay for 3 sec with or without engine running to
get various things. Blinks the CIS light in the dash in a morse-like
fasion. Blinks in sets, so dit-dit-dit<pause>dit-dit<pause>dit-dit-dit-dit
would be 324.
I think 3-3-3 is the seperator/all-ok. Bently has lots-o-instructions on it.
In any case, the interaction with the computer is always the fuel pump
relay posts for 3 sec minimum.
With the ignition off, each short-out for 3 sec signals the computer to
activate various gizmoes(ISV, CCV, WGFV, fuel pump, etc) that love to
malfunction. Combined with various LED testers and duty-cycle indicators,
it's a powerful tool; the equivalent of "Say aaaaaaaaahhhh!" for your car
:) Think of that fuse as a tounge-depressor :)
