RE: after run fan on 4k/coupe
I checked Bentley on this, and found that on the '85 4kq the radiator fan
should only work when the ignition switch is in the ON position. The relay
contacts that switch on the fan are powered at all times, but the circuit
that energizes the relay from the coolant temp switch is powered by the load
reduction relay.
If someone wanted to have the fan run all the time I would imagine that it
would be a simple task to reroute the power in this circuit.
I also had another thought. Unlike the 5k, the 4k's radiator fan has only
one speed that is controlled by a single relay, and this relay should be a
simple one ... not one with an internal circuit baord and a lot of
additional control ciruitry. To those who wish to fuse the fan circuit, I
seem to recall seeing a relay module that has a fuse holder in the top. I
wonder if the pin configuration for these relays are compatible with the
unfused relay that is currently in place. I suppose that one could build
such a relay for themselves by using the cover from a fuel pump relay and
inserting the fuse into the relay circuit.
