The BEST way to fuse the radiator fan in the 4000/CGT (with the underhood
fuse box) is to use the method Luis Marques described earlier. It is so
simple, it takes less than 10 minutes and requires nothing more than a
30A fuse in one of the unused fux-box slots.
I was completely amazed when Luis showed it to me. Why Audi didn't do it
in the first place is beyond me. I've been running the fused fan for quite
a while now, and have not encountered any problems.
Of course, if the fuse blows and you don't know it, you might see
symptoms of overheating. Better that than to $$fray$$ the wiring
harness, though. In my case, I always keep an eye on the car and
usually notice pretty quickly when something is amiss.
