Brake pad wear light comes on
Hi All,
I have a problem with my '94 100S (non-quattro... next time, now that I
know better).
The warning light that tells me the brake pads are worn keeps coming on,
usually during moderately aggressive braking. When this first started
about a month ago I naturally assumed it was time for new front pads, so
I went ahead and replaced them. The pads I removed were about 2/3 worn,
but not enough to cause the warning light to come on. I installed the
new pads, and, sure enough, the light still comes on during aggressive
braking.
I brought the car to the Audi dealer and they found no problems anywhere
in the wiring harness associated with the wear sensors. They ended up
replacing the auto-check unit behind the dash, thinking that might be
faulty. On the way home from the dealer... the light came on again. Grr.
Any ideas? Thanks!
