New subscriber w/87 5000SQ

I have been reading with great interest the "List" every night since
subscribing and wish I knew about it a year ago when I bought my 4000KCSQ, 52K
miles.  I've owned 5 Audis, from a ''80 & 81 5000S to a '875000CST and now two
quattros.  Was intimately involved with mechanical repairs with about all of
them so perhaps I can help with some questions. (I.E. Changed the window
regulator on my 4000CSQ with modified $175 one, works great!)  My one question
is regarding the replacing of the shift boot on my '87 5000SQ.  Dealer wants
$90 for VINYL!  Any suggestions?
