RE: V rated tires

I found a couple of problmes with this post.

and the Q's with the 7 in. wide ones. But all 100's, either Q or non-Q had
the 196 65 15 tires. In later years, you could get the 7 in. wheels as an
option on non-Q's, but still got the 195 65 15 rubber. I do think 215 55
15 would be the next in the plus size rule. When I did the calculations for

To keep the diameter the same, you would want 205 60 15. Neither
of these is a true +1 thought. Generally a real +1 includes a wheel size
increase? At least that is the wya I understand it. I am sure abouteh
diameter though.

the outside diameter 3 tires in question I got the following (outside diameter
2(sidewall height)+wheel diameter):
195 65 15 634.5 mm
205 50 15 627.0 mm
215 55 15 617.5 mm ??

This seems right. All times are a little different but calculations
are right. Keep in mind though, a v rated 205 from BFG is might not be the
same as a V rated Dunlop. Widths and height even vary within a
manufacturer and there are HUGE differences when sidewall height is
reduced.

I have purchased some of the 7x15 A6 wheels for my car, so I think wider
tires will work OK. Sean Ford told me that he has 205 60 15's on his stock
6x15 wheels on his 100CS, and they fit fine. Says they fill out the wheel
well better, but do not stick out too far. Going with the 215 55 15 will
lower your car by about 17 mm (1.7 cm), which is not a whole lot. I'm not

	I dont thing that a 215/55 will fit a 6" wide wheel. I think
you need at least a 6.5. Preferably 7". Also, with a 215 55 15, you
will lower the car exacly 1/2 of 17 mm. (Dont forget there are two
sidewallys just like when figuring out height. IF the tire is 17mm
shorter, then it will lower car about 8.5 cm. or a little under 1 cm.
NOt much at all but a difference nontheless. If it were I, Unless you are
trying to change your effictive gearing, I would stick with the same
overall height. Go with a wider tire for sure that is lower profile but
stick with close to the same overall height. THat weigh speedo isn't
effecyted either.
