advantage to being old . . . (slight Audi content)
Finally found some slight advantages to being over 50.
1. Local bank gives me free checking account. Yeah, I know that isn't a
real big deal, but Florida has the highest banking charges in the USA, and
I am no fan of banks. I demanded the free Town Car so I could drive in the
left lane of the interstate at 45 mph with the turn signal flashing, but
they said they were out, would I like a toaster?
2. Wife bugged me to join AARP (What? Me? I'll NEVER be old enough for
AARP!) Sent them eight whole dollars. Got ad from Hartford Insurance
(here's the Audi content) offering me a cheap Chinese calculator if they
could quote on my auto insurance.
Got the calculator, and also got a quote SEVEN HUNDRED DOLLARS LESS than my
current insurance - Nationwide - a pretty good company - for the same
coverage (two cars, 100/300, etc.) The savings in the first year alone will
pay for my AARP membership for the next 87.5 years!!!!! (If the math is
wrong, blame the cheap calculator.) Was $1,600/yr, now $900/yr.
Dang! Now I can get the paint job I want, and fix the A/C, and, and, and . . .
3. Wonder if AARP's discount prescription program covers Viagra? (Hmmph!
REAL MEN don't need no steenkin' Viagra!!)
Best Regards,
