Some early Audi's had a switch on the air flap that killed the fuel pump
unless air was being sucked into the engine (replaced on later Audis by
a fuel pump relay that turns off the pump unless it is receiving regular
pulses from the distributor indicating that the engine is running).

That's as near as they get.
