Well, then maybe a 5kcst_q_?

I got several swift replies to say that I would be missing out if I got
that 5kcst instead of a quattro, even if it was cheap, so I'm back to
looking for a 5kcstq in the Bay Area. And here's the one I'm going to look
at out Friday afternoon:

----
1987 AUDI 5000 CS QUATTRO, stunning pearlescent color, complimentary navy
leather interior, loaded to the gunnels!, sunroof, all wheel drive, power
door locks, power windows, air conditioning, power steering, anti-lock
brakes, 10 spkr. Alpine CD/am/fm, runs true, 137000 MILES & CAR cover, all
for $4995 or best offer, 415-332-3906
Location: Sausalito, CA
----

137k miles seems to be lower than average, though it's still high. Here's
my current list of specific things to check for:

- good brake bomb: >20 pumps to a stiff brake pedal
- clutch: light pressure
- turbo: cracked hoses, anything else you can check?
- intercooler: oil leaks
- engine: a little lifter noise is common at startup, right?
- quattro: is it worth checking the locks?
- interior electrical: trip computer, sunroof, all window switches working
- power steering: ?

If you can fill in the ? or add other items, please let me know. Also,
know of a good Audi mechanic in Sausalito? I didn't find one on the
quattro web page. I have a phone number for their mechanic, a guy named
Darwin, and I may call him to ask about it, but I'd prefer an impartial
judge.

Thanks again!
