sounds like your heater valve is stuck open. It's behind the head, you
may see the cable going to it. The clip that stops the sheath from
moving may have just popped off. It could also have popped off at the
other end, behind the heater control panel.

I would get the cooling system flushed and cleaned, and check the fan
operation, and the temp sensor that runs it (on the bottom rear of the
radiator?)
